  • Train the Trainer Gold Programme

    Work in progress

  • Introducing the Train the Trainer Silver programme

Transform your respected Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) into confident, effective new Trainers

Create a great new asset to the business, at no extra cost to the payroll

Your people need to be able to achieve your organisation’s mission, vision and values – and to do that, you need great trainers.

    The problem

You’re being asked to do more with less – and the days of the dedicated training unit with full-time trainers and a hefty budget are done.

You may not have enough trainers to deliver the required results.

So how do we solve this?

    The answer

    They’ve been there all along.

Your brilliant Subject Matter Experts, currently delivering business as usual.

Skilled, experienced and respected, they have a wealth of knowledge, skills and credibility, and they’re ready to share that with your teams.

    The next problem

But there’s just one spanner in the works

One thing that’s stopping you and them from seizing this opportunity …

They have no training or experience as trainers.

‘You’re great at your job, so you’ll be great at training it!’

Sound familiar? It’s a bit like saying ‘you’re a great football player – so you can drive the team bus to the next match!’

But do they understand how and why adults learn, current learning and development thinking?

Do they have a toolkit of practical training content development skills?

Do they have public speaking, facilitation, presentation and audience management techniques that work?

Do they know how to evaluate training and show it’s caused a permanent behaviour change, the performance results that matter and a real return on investment?

They may not have this skillset – yet.

    The solution

Training’s a very particular set of knowledge, skills and mindsets – and these can be learned.

My Train the Trainer Silver: SME to Trainer three day programme is here.

  • Introducing the Train the Trainer Gold Programme

Welcome to my new next-level programme for your Trainers – Train the Trainer Gold: Trainer to Consultant. This new programme will be their turning point as they evolve up from Trainer to Learning, Development and Performance Consultant.

    Where they are now

Your Trainer is a sterling team member, an obliging team player supporting the business’ delivery needs. If they’ve been active as Trainers for a while now, their experience and skills include a working knowledge of the ADDIE training cycle:

    Planning, designing and writing training

Delivery of in person / online training – public speaking, hosting, facilitating, presenting, group management etc

And gathering information for evaluation, likely to be at Kirkpatrick L1 Reaction and L2 Learning levels.

You may now want them to step up and develop their skills and their image at all levels within the business. They’re ready for their next career steps. You’re ready to make an investment in them and in their value to your team and the business. The business is ready for them to become more effective, consultative and influential.

    The problem

It may be that training isn’t always landing – behaviour isn’t changing and isn’t delivering the performance and results the business needs. The problem may not be the training, the trainers or the trainees … it may be the culture and climate the trainees are going back to that’s getting in the way of learning transfer and behaviour change:

Needs analysis the business may be unclear about its needs, their training request lacking depth and purpose – so the training created and delivered may simply not hit the mark

The role of the manager Line managers may not be aware of learning objectives or their part in the learning transfer process for behaviour change – so the vulnerable bit where behaviour needs to change back in the workplace isn’t being managed and supported

Evaluation Leaders and managers may not be engaged in the process of evaluating from the start, so evidencing and proving performance and that crucial return on investment isn’t happening.

    The solution

Train the Trainer Gold: Trainer to Consultant

This three day in-person in-house programme is your step to transforming your sterling Trainers into Learning, Development and Performance Consultants – a new professional asset to the business, at no extra payroll cost.

    Definition

A Learning, Development and Performance Consultant is seen as a respected professional asset to the business:

A change agent, with change management skills and a leadership approach to training

Assertive and proactive, confident with speaking and consulting at high levels within and across the business

Robust needs analysis and manager briefing skills:

    Enquiring, questioning, probing and challenging

    Active listening and observation

Consulting, analysing, diagnosing, advising and guiding

Evaluating with leadership and management input:

Kirkpatrick Phillips L3 Behaviour and L4 Results and RoI

Informed by Talheimer’s Learning Transfer Evaluation Model (LTEM)

    The programme will

Build your trainers’ confidence, professional brand, leadership, investigative, persuading and influencing skills first

Then address each of those stress points, building confidence and capability all round

Deliver them back to the business with a new learning, development and performance consultant’s mindset and approach.

    Audience

Your brilliant Trainers ready to step up to the next level.

It’s expected that they have a working knowledge of the ADDIE training cycle – they can already plan, prepare and deliver and facilitate training, in person and online, and have some experience of evaluation.

Which programme is right for your team?

If your trainers don’t have this level of experience and awareness yet, you can transform your brilliant Subject Matter Experts into confident, effective new Trainers – a new asset to the business, at no extra payroll cost, with my Train the Trainer Silver: SME to Trainer Programme

This programme will be more appropriate for them in early career, and can also act as a refresher to polish their initial understanding.
If they are ready to step up to the next level: Train the Trainer Gold: Trainer to Consultant Programme
